Here is the transcript of the video:

Welcome BACK to REVERSE RUNWAY our series that highlights creators doing their best to destroy FAST FASHION and killing it at being sustainable.

Today's reel is focused on Scout from Radical Sewing Club

Scout Grew up in Pomona, CA. Spent their 20s moving around the states a bit and moved to Southeast LA with their wife a few years ago.

When asked about how they got their start, they said they had a refusal to give in to the capitalist nature of fast fashion and overconsumption. They started teaching others about mending and clothing repair so that together little by little we can make changes beyond just our clothing, but mending and repairing ourselves, and our world.

Radical Sewing Club started at the beginning of 2023 with a few pop ups here and there but consistently at a community shop called Midnight Books in LA.

Scout wants people to know that Radical Sewing Club is a place for anyone to learn how to sew and repair their clothing. They mostly teach hand sewing but they always have a machine ready. They want to help anyone who wants to learn and this is the first time I’ve met the creator in person since they are local to me and the energy in that space is literally fuel for the soul.

Their personal sustainable “hack” they’d like to share is not to be so hard on ourselves for NOT being sustainable all the time. We live in a super capitalist world, it’s impossible to live a truly sustainable life while inside of it.
