Here’s a transcript of the video:

Welcome to our series where we highlight creators in the field of upcycling and slow fashion.

Today's reel is focused on Emily from Cherry Baum Designs.

Emily grew up in Baltimore, MD and currently live in Clermont, FL

She started sewing while studying at Savannah College of Art & Design where she was taught how to design and sew on industrial machines.

Emily says "there’s nothing better than finding a forgotten fabric and reworking it into something new. "

She uses a lot of vintage prints and laces to bring a unique and nostalgic element to the Cherry Baum Designs brand.

Pay attention if you love getting your slow fashion garments made to order because Emily loves doing custom work for clients. Especially when they’re passionate about an idea materializing into a garment. You don't have to be into sewing or even know how to sew to design a look.  You just need the help of a good sewist. And she's more than willing to help you bring your ideas to fruition.

Some tips from Emily....try to use what you already own. Use the fabric from an old top or skirt for a new project, or simply add a new element to the garment to create a fresh look. Have fun with it, and don’t be afraid of the trial and error method. The seam ripper may be your best friend!
