Welcome to our series where we highlight creators in the field of upcycling and slow fashion.

Today's reel is focused on Kayla from zero miles per hour.

She grew up in Massachusetts & is currently living in New Hampshire temporarily while waiting to see where the road takes her next.

When first learning about the negative impacts of the fashion industry, Kayla felt that the only way to continue on her path with fashion design was to focus on slow fashion hence the name 0 Miles Per Hour @_0_mph

In 2017, while studying fashion design in Chicago, she was trying to incorporate secondhand & discarded materials into the traditional fashion design curriculum. This was before she even knew slow fashion had even become a trend.

After trying to weave in new upcyclig principles at the same time as getting a structured education in fashion design, she realized it was too difficult. Once she let go of the boundaries of the schooling, she was able to further explore and dig deeper into the possibilities of up

Kayla states she's always trying to learn and grow. She's giving herself space to trying to do things and see what works and what doesn't without getting caught up in perfection.
